Shopping is a magnificent activity in Queenscliff and is a must do activity or your trip won't be complete. Most stores in Queenscliff are located on Hesse Street or the Harbour and boast of a variety of details such as clothing, jewellery and antiques all at very affordable prices.

For book lovers, Queenscliff has a chain of bookstores that will offer you your taste of literature and much more in whatever genres you want. The Mystery Bookshop and Bookshop of Queenscliff are the biggest bookstores and are both located on the main street of Queenscliff.

Activities

The activities to do around town are endless. There is no shortage of ways to keep yourselves, families and friends amused. All catering to different budgets. Stroll along the scenic rail trail that hugs Swan Bay, picnic in one of the great parklands or wonder along the beach up to one of the lighthouses if you enjoy getting outdoors and exploring new locations. Theres also a great 360 view of the bay and surrounds at the look out tower at the harbour.

Check out Queenscliff’s rich heritage with a visit to the historic Fort and/or Queenscliff Historical Museum.

Looking to make it a weekend trip? We've put together a couple of itineraries that cater to all interests

Family Friendly Weekend:

Stay at one of the local caravan parks. Enjoy a delicious beachside breakfast at ROROs Cafe. Keep the kids amused throughout the day with an educational visit to the Marine Discovery Centre or swim with the Dolphins. Grab an early session at the Pelican Bar followed up with a late desert at Scandinavian Ice Creamery.


Group Booking:

Got a bunch of friends hoping to have a decent catch up after a year of lockdowns? Stay at one of the many places that cater to big groups including Seaview Guest House, Benambra Bnb or Point Lonsdale Guest House. Start your weekend off right with breakfast at 360Q where you can take in views of the bay and marina. Spend the rest of the morning on a fishing charter. Lombardy's on Hesse or the Shelter Shed are a great place to share lunch. Send the boys out for a round of golf while the girls treat themselves at one of the day spas. Come together for a session at the Pelican Bar and finish off a great weekend with a group tasting at Tastes of the Region where you can enjoy and sample the local beers, wines and ciders along with a fantastic selection of local produce


Arts and Culture Experience:

Stay at Circa 1902 or Athelstane house to experience the culture around town. Soak up your surrounds with a relaxing breakfast in Point Lonsdale after a stroll along the boardwalk. Check out the local markets that happen in town. After lunch at one of the local artistic cafes, Saltbush or Belsize & Co, check out some of the many galleries around Queenscliff before experiencing the local music scene at the Pelican Bar.


Fitness Fanatics:

The Lon is a great place for those who like to look after their health and fitness. Its a great retreat for some well earned R&R. Start the weekend off with a scenic hike along the rail trail. The beauty of this trail is you can go as far or little along it as you like, it caters to all abilities. Visit the General Store or Naturally Grow for a healthy lunch. For a hit of adrenaline take a tour to go snorkelling or swim with the dolphins and seals or for something more relaxed, a hit of golf. Finish your adventurous time off with an entertaining session at the Pelican Bar.


History Buffs:

Stay at the local Point Lonsdale Guest House. After a quick breakfast, a visit to the historical Fort and RSL is a must to soak up the rich heritage of the town. Follow it up after lunch with a visit to the Historical Museum. Swap some stories with the locals over a local brew or two at the Brewhouse before catching a later session at the Pelican Bar - very appropriate as Queenscliff has a long history with music. Before leaving, participate in a Historical walk to see the places you discovered in the Fort and Museum in person.
